,Founded in 1980, The Metcalfe Society today stands in the forefront of the world of genealogy as one of the larger and most respected one-name study groups. With over 2,000 members, past and present, home and overseas, we cover a wide range of people and places.
The Metcalfe Society supports an interest in the family history of the Metcalfe surname or any of spelling variants, and acts as the principal link between branches in the home county, and those who settled nationwide and worldwide. As a Registered Charity, 1000879, The Metcalfe Society currently holds over nearly 111,000 individual 'records' of Metcalfe individuals and families; on a constantly expanding Computer Index. The 800 year history of the name is fully researched and published, and society membership offers a free genealogical research service, for members to access and search records online. We have published an award-winning journal in the past, and more recently an e-newsletter which is sent out bi-monthly.
